Why VeraYoga
It's a moving meditation led by your breath and the beat. Never done hot yoga before? Most of our regulars hadn't either.

Infrared-heated, dimly lit, pristinely clean studios, built for a real sweat, not a sauna.

A workout led by breath and beat, not silence and stillness.

No mirrors, no ego, no judgment. Just a room full of New Yorkers doing their own thing.

The teacher fades out, the music takes over, and you move at your own pace. All levels genuinely welcome.
The format
Never taken a heated class? No spiritual jargon, no prior experience needed. Here's exactly how one runs, start to finish.
Arrive about 15 minutes early, grab a mat and a spot on the floor, and settle into the heat. First class? You'll fit right in, nobody's watching.
Your teacher opens by walking the whole room through the sequence and the alignment, out loud and unhurried, so you always know what's coming next.
Then the cueing drops away and the music takes over. You take the flow you just learned and make it yours, breath by breath, at your own pace.
Everything lands in a still, dark savasana. Then every class closes the same way: our signature ice-cold, essential-oil face towel.
The class menu
All real VERA classes, all heated. No prior experience needed. Pick a starting point and go at your own pace.

The VERA base class.
Alignment-informed vinyasa in a heated room, the format the rest of the menu builds on. Music-driven, self-paced once the teacher hands the room the rhythm. Great first class. No prior experience needed.

Yoga with weights.
Vinyasa flow combined with resistance work and hand weights (15-20lb dumbbells): builds real strength alongside flexibility and breath control, all without leaving the room.

Alignment-focused flow.
A slower, more technical class that breaks down proper form in key postures. Useful if FLOW felt fast: take ALIGN to slow down and learn the shapes.

Yoga meets mat Pilates.
Core-focused class blending yoga postures with mat Pilates principles: control, stability, and a serious ab burn.

Hot HIIT, VERA-style.
High-intensity intervals with blocks, bands and sliders, done in the heat. Built for people who want their yoga class to also be a serious workout. Modifications offered throughout, go at your intensity.

The antidote to your usual workout.
Slow, meditative, long-held stretches: a genuine counterbalance to the heat and intensity of the rest of the menu. All levels: the most beginner-accessible class on the menu.
The studios
Spacious, dimly lit, pristinely clean: three heated studios across NYC, each with its own feel.

A beautiful, oversized studio space with exposed brick and big windows.

Ground-floor, dual heat-zoned infrared and forced air: hot, continually ventilated and fresh.

Infrared heat with environmentally engineered closed-loop heat-pump ventilation, at the foot of the Williamsburg Bridge in a modern brutalist building.
At every studio
Rent a mat, mat towel, hand towel, or shower towel at the front desk, or bring your own.
Health-conscious snacks and beverages available before or after class.
Every class ends with our signature ice-cold, essential-oil face towel.
The collective

Not a hierarchy: a collective, three studios, one practice.
VeraYoga is a collective of real, practicing, fallible, joy-filled, kind, curious, striving, New York yogis. A little of the woo, a lot of the real.
Our teacher-training program is led by Britton Schey (E-RYT 500, YACEP), with faculty Shelby Hicks (500Hr, ACSM-EP), Tess Koenig (500Hr), Meave Purcell, August Henderson, and Michael Guiou (Philosophy).
“The music goes up, the teacher fades out, and you get to explore each flow at your own pace.”
Community
“Great class variety, great teachers, great community across all three locations. I've been a member for a couple years now and don't plan on changing that.”
